Boyfriend Dungeon: Explore. Fight. Plunder. & Date?

I squealed with excitement when I saw that Canadian based Kitfox Games, best known for last year's multiplayer indie hit Moon Hunters and sacrificial management game The Shrouded Isle, released a new trailer on October 19th. Newly titled Boyfriend Dungeon is an adventurous dungeon crawler with a twist -- destroy the monster, collect your sword and get a hot dude. A hot dude that you can date. Kitfox description goes a little more in-depth but still teases what we could see in their upcoming game. "Plunder the dunj and take your weapons on dates! Capture the hearts of cuties to level them up. Boyfriend Dungeon is the playful shack-and-slash the world’s been waiting for!". Oh dear lord, I needed this...yesterday. Basically, it’s the dating sim/fantasy adventure game no one ever knew we needed but now it's we've all been waiting for.
Check out the teaser below...

Set to be released in 2019 (Womp Wah.) the game will feature beautiful people to romance while trying to 'level up' and 'Plunger the Dunj'.
Please...Please...Please.. tell me the names are dick jokes?
The immature teenage girl in me needs to know.
Each dateable sim is a bachelor/ette personification of the weapons used to fight enemies. The concept is interesting, especially seeing how it will fit into the world of dungeon crawlers by sticking to the traditional system. Explore, find new recruits trapped in a dungeon, add them to your party, level up their skills, and try not to upset them with your choices.
WAIT. WHAT.
But there's more to Boyfriend Dungeon's relationships. You don't just talk to your weapons, you also learn their likes and dislikes and take them on dates away from the dungeon. As your relationship deepens, their weapons grow stronger. Steeped with their own unique personalities and combat styles. Details on the game are scarce. But the announcement trailer introduced several of the dateable sims and their weapons..and oh possibly a cat? That's the line, personally, I don't think I'd cross. Kitfox looks like gave very careful consideration when creating the characters being inclusive to all genders and preferences (YAY.) and went as far as consulting Indie visual novelist Christine Love, known for all-inclusive queer games such as Digital: A Love Story, Analogue: A Hate Story, and Ladykiller: In a Bind. (Which are fantastic by the way.)
Valaria Dagger? I wonder if she is related to Conan's legendary sword?

I have a feeling
Boyfriend Dungeon is going to be the spiritual successor to 2017’s hottest gay dating sim, Dream Daddy. A Dad Dating Simulator a game where you play as a Dad and your goal is to meet and romance other hot Dads.  Launched in July, it’s currently holding the top spot on Steam for Dating Sims, which is impressive seeing as the PC-based game store is typically better known for FP shooters and serious fantasy adventures. I project it may be dethroned at the release of Boyfriend Dungeon, but only time will tell.
